The Dilemma

A global manufacturing company with over 18,000 employees and nearly $7 billion in revenue, was facing significant challenges in meeting the growing demand for hiring full-time employees, both in professional roles and across skilled labor and technician positions. Recruitment responsibilities were decentralized to local HR professionals in field and plant locations, where it often became an additional task on an already crowded "To-Do” list.

These HR teams lacked the necessary time, resources, and training to execute a robust talent acquisition (TA) strategy, leading to inconsistent service levels, non-compliance with processes, and unmet performance metrics. The lack of a streamlined TA process impacted the company's ability to meet internal business needs efficiently and effectively. Consequently, costly third-party agencies were often relied upon to fill open positions, further driving up operational costs. 

The company recognized the need for change, understanding that a more strategic and centralized approach was essential to meet hiring demands and improve service levels. 

The Strategy

After careful consideration, the company’s Corporate HR and TA teams made the strategic decision to partner with DZConneX (DZX) to revamp and centralize their recruitment efforts in the U.S. and Canada by implementing an Enterprise RPO solution. Our partnership began with a pilot in key markets focusing on difficult-to-fill positions. Based on the success of this multi-phase pilot, the program was rolled out across the U.S. and Canada. 

The DZX solution included a comprehensive audit and redesign of the recruitment process along with an integration of DZX’s proprietary Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to enhance and streamline the candidate experience. Full outsourcing of the day-to-day TA management, allowing the customer to focus on executive and early-career hiring while maintaining strategic oversight was also included as well as robust real-time reporting and ongoing trend analysis to ensure our customer remained informed and engaged throughout the recruitment process. DZX’s solution significantly expanded our customer’s TA capabilities, enhanced consistency, and improved overall service delivery. 

The Impact

The results of our partnership have been transformative. By outsourcing their TA functions to DZX, our customer’s HR staff has been freed from the burdens of managing third-party recruiting relationships and screening candidates – allowing them to focus on key employee development and retention initiatives. 

Key performance improvements include: 

Time-to-Fill Reduction: Prior to DZX's involvement, the average time to fill salaried positions was 99 days, and hourly positions averaged 81 days. Since the partnership, those numbers have dropped to 53 days for salaried roles and less than 45 days for hourly roles – including many skilled roles. 

Enhanced Candidate Experience: The time required for candidates to complete online applications decreased from 15 minutes to less than 2 minutes – significantly reducing candidate abandonment rates, providing recruiters, and hiring managers with more qualified candidates to consider. 

Increased Process Consistency: The centralized recruitment program created uniformity in the hiring process, fostering greater trust in the data and metrics generated. This compliance and process consistency laid the foundation for continuous improvement initiatives, including an additional 15% reduction in time-to-fill in phase two and improvements in interview scheduling and offer management processes.
