The Dilemma
Our customer, a $12+ billion global entertainment company faced significant challenges with its decentralized talent acquisition (TA) model in the U.S. Annual hiring volumes were typically between 100-150 positions, with each hire crucial to business operations. Although they had corporate-provided global TA systems and processes, each business unit managed its direct hiring efforts in North America.
Without accurate workforce planning and consistent hiring cycles, the company often relied on costly contingent recruiting agencies or sporadic contract recruiters. This approach produced inconsistent results, leading to service gaps, long hiring timelines, and escalating costs. At one point, their open requisition load swelled to over 40 backlogged positions. Our customer recognized the need for a more efficient and effective hiring solution to meet its growing talent acquisition demands.
The Strategy
Given DZConneX’s (DZX’s) strong relationship with the customer, achieved by managing their contingent hiring program, they turned to us to help solve their direct hiring challenges. With existing systems, processes, and sourcing tools in place, what the customer truly needed was the expertise and execution that our On-Demand Recruiters solution could deliver. Our solution provided them with immediate access to skilled corporate recruiting talent and tailored processes to meet their unique hiring requirements.
DZX rapidly identified and deployed two experienced recruiters to tackle the open requisition load. Our RPO leadership team worked closely with the recruiters providing them with the necessary cultural, procedural, and skill-related details needed to identify qualified talent, all while tightening and enhancing existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Our team also created additional system reporting to provide greater visibility into the recruitment process. This reporting allowed our customer to better monitor the recruiters’ progress, assess their performance, and manage overall hiring activity.
Our agile on-demand model allowed us to hit the ground running, making an immediate impact on reducing the backlog of open positions and streamlining hiring processes.
The Impact
Within 60 days of the recruiters beginning work, requisition volume had been reduced to more manageable numbers – down from 40+ to less than 25. Recruiters were meeting targeted times to fill metrics, standard processes were being followed, and the business stakeholders were happier.
Human Resources now had a proven partner to collaborate with for their direct hiring needs. They had more control over budgets, processes, and quality of the overall work, and did not experience the constant turnover of typical contract recruiters. In addition, the On-Demand Recruitment solution greatly outperformed the contract recruiter model by almost 25% of their historical KPIs – and at basically the same price. DZX also worked with the customer over the 18 months since beginning this model to adjust the team size when required, slightly scaling up the team size to help with a special hiring project. The initial speed to deploy and long-term flexibility of the On-Demand Recruiter solution have added great value to our customers and should continue to evolve as their needs change in the future.
