Employee burnout is alarmingly high today. A study by ADP found that 43% of employees feel burned out, with 37% feeling so overwhelmed that it impacts their ability to work effectively. The consequences are staggering − burnout-related turnover and lost productivity cost companies $322 billion annually. With nearly half of the workforce feeling burned out, organization leaders need to take action to prevent this issue from escalating for both individuals and businesses.
The good news? Many organizations are stepping up and increasing investments in employee well-being programs to support employees and reduce burnout. Companies today anticipate greater investment in well-being programs to support employees and mitigate burnout. They are recognizing that supporting employee well-being isn’t just about doing the right thing—it’s about driving better business outcomes, as ADP research shows that prioritizing well-being leads to significantly higher productivity and engagement.
While some may not view employee well-being as essential to business success, research from Wellhub proves otherwise:
- 83% of employees would consider leaving their employer due to a lack of well-being initiatives.
- 88% of employees value workplace well-being as much as their salary.
- 89% of employees will only consider companies prioritizing well-being when seeking new opportunities.
Investing in employee well-being is essential for long-term success. Organizations that make well-being a priority see higher engagement, productivity, and retention, giving them a competitive edge in attracting and retaining top talent.

How to Improve Employee Well-Being in 2025
To attract and retain top talent, organizations must prioritize well-being initiatives that foster a healthier, more engaged workforce. Here are key strategies to make it a top priority in 2025.
1. Prioritize Mental Health Support
Mental well-being is the foundation of employee performance. Offer your employees therapy services or mental health counseling with licensed professionals. It can also be beneficial to provide mental health PTO days so employees can recharge when necessary. Employees who feel supported in managing stress and anxiety are more focused, engaged, and productive.
2. Introduce Financial Wellness Programs
Money worries are a major source of stress for employees, impacting both well-being and workplace performance. Consider offering budgeting workshops, debt management resources, one-on-one financial coaching sessions, and retirement planning support to improve employee health by reducing financial anxiety.
3. Offer Workplace Flexibility
Most employees have said goodbye to a rigid 9 to 5 in-office work schedule, and they expect flexible work arrangements that support a healthy work-life balance to remain. Offering options like hybrid work, flexible hours, and remote work opportunities can improve job satisfaction, reduce burnout, and enhance productivity. Plus, employees who save time and money on commutes are more likely to stay motivated and committed to your organization’s success.
4. Implement Stress Management Programs
Employees perform best when they know how to manage their stress effectively. Help employees build resilience by offering stress management workshops, meditation and breathwork sessions, and on-site or virtual fitness classes. Creating a culture that encourages movement, mindfulness, and self-care can significantly reduce burnout and improve focus. Companies that actively promote stress reduction strategies see higher engagement and lower turnover.
5. Encourage Employee Volunteering
Organize volunteering events to strengthen team bonds or allow employees to take a paid day off to support a cause they care about. Taking time to help others will rejuvenate your employees and improve their well-being.
6. Support Education and Passion Projects
Investing in employees’ growth outside of work is a great way to show you genuinely care about them. Consider offering an education stipend they can use to obtain degrees or professional certifications or to pursue passion projects that foster creativity and fulfillment. If employees don’t have the time or support to pursue their interests outside of work, they will be less motivated to put effort into their work tasks.
7. Offer an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Providing an EAP for your employees that offer free help when they are facing personal problems that may impact their job performance, health, or well-being is an essential part of making them feel supported.
At DZConneX, we offer an EAP to help improve the well-being of our teams. We recently offered our EAP services to those impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires. We provided resources to our employees in the L.A. area and to one of our long-standing customers’ workers based out of L.A. to help them navigate the situation. We provided professional counselors and Life & Work Specialists for individuals to meet with to talk through their struggles and find resolutions.
Additionally, DZX compiled and shared information to ensure those affected were aware of the resources available to them, including emergency shelter locations, wildfire preparedness information, evacuation maps, air quality trackers, disaster distress helplines, etc. Having an EAP like this in place ensured our team members and workers were supported and cared for to alleviate some of the burden they were facing.
The Bottom Line: Employee Well-Being Leads to Business Success
Investing in employee well-being isn’t just the right thing to do − it’s a smart business strategy that fuels engagement, retention, and productivity. In 2025, organizations that prioritize well-being will attract top talent, reduce burnout, and build a stronger, more resilient workforce. Take action now to implement these initiatives before your competitors do, because the best talent won't wait.
